At its Spring/Summer 2025 show, Dolce & Gabbana made a bold beauty statement: blonde ambition. Every model on the Milan runway sported tightly permed blonde wigs, secured with a black stretch hairband—an unmistakable homage to Madonna’s iconic Blonde Ambition tour in 1990. The reference was clear, reflecting the deep, long-standing relationship between the pop star and the fashion house, blending brand and muse seamlessly.

This tribute fit perfectly into the "Italian Beauty" theme of the collection, which celebrated Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s Italian heritage. The show paid homage to Italy’s enduring allure, from Botticelli’s masterpieces to the new wave of supermodels, including Vittoria Ceretti, who opened the show. While Madonna was born in Michigan, her Italian roots, through her father’s heritage, have always played a key role in shaping her art and persona.

However, amidst the sea of platinum curls, one person stood apart: Madonna herself. Sitting front and center, she draped herself in a dramatic, floor-length black lace veil that trailed behind her. Underneath, her signature blonde waves remained untouched, making her presence all the more striking against the uniformity of the runway.

There was no mistaking Madonna’s appreciation for the tribute. As Dolce & Gabbana took their final bow, Madonna stood, enveloping them in heartfelt hugs—a moment of mutual admiration and gratitude. Naomi Campbell and other front-row guests eagerly pulled out their phones to capture the emotional exchange.

Mona Tougaard’s closing look pulled clear reference from Madonna’s iconic Jean-Paul Gaultier cone bra.

Of course, Blonde Ambition was itself a tribute to Marilyn Monroe, whose platinum blonde locks became an enduring symbol of fame and glamour. Just as Madonna redefined that legacy in the ’90s, Dolce & Gabbana’s 2025 show proves that the power of blonde ambition continues to thrive.
